Check this out and if you have any advice, please comment below. I finally figured out how to make a decent sound recording:



For those who want to use sound, this is how I made this recording:

1. turned off fan, threw blanket over computer to muffle ambient noise
2. set recording level as per Audacity manual
3. recorded with cheap microphone
4. used noise removal effect to delete remaining ambient noise
5. used normalize effect
6. used phaser effect - set slider about halfway closer to "dry" than to "wet"

This was all trial-and-error; I basically tried every last one of the built-in effects before I managed to figure out what was working for me.

I'm quite new to Audacity and don't think I understand sound, so am unsure of a lot of the options; please feel free to give me advice if you're more clueful than I am.
