This is a follow-up on my previous post about how to install an RSS feeder in a Niteflirt ad. We were seeing an intermittent problem with the Flash RSS reader we were using in our Niteflirt ads, so looked for a better solution.
Our criteria: it had to work and it had to be free. There's lots more out there if you Google for "Flash RSS reader," but we only looked at the freebies. Here's what we ended up with: SanrioTown You fill out a form on the web site to put in your RSS URL, set colors for the title text, body text, title background, and body background, how many entries per page, font size, length of summary, whether to show the time, whether to bullet, and whether to have a border. It shows you a preview of what your Flash will look like before you enter the form. Once you enter the form, it gives you an EMBED tag (I rewrote with an OBJECT tag). Sample: Pros: It's easy, you fill out a form, then cut-and-paste the code. Cons: It spreads out the BR tags way too much and doesn't include images that are in the RSS feed. Add your comment |
